挪威咨詢公司DNV碳管理方案經理栗廣宇告訴《知識分子》，中國企業除了國家的碳中和目標，也面臨諸多外部挑戰，比如歐盟碳邊境調節機制，所以CCER的存在與未來發展非常有意義，尤其它在何種程度上可以與國際標準互認。
陳美安提到，CCER與前文提及的VCS、Gold Standard和American Carbon Registry等都是被國際
航空組織碳抵消與減排機制認可的減排項目體系。這代表在民航組織的語境下，CCER可以得到一定的國際認可。
當前，雀巢、開云、古奇等跨國企業正在引領氣候變化議題下最新一輪運動，公開抵制用來漂綠的碳抵消[35]。栗廣宇表示，雖然目前碳信用在國際語境下飽受爭議，但我們還是應該從發展的角度看問題，畢竟多數企業甚至對碳中和還沒有觀念和行動。
自愿
碳市場和碳信用項目都仍有存在的意義，它們不僅曾為自然系統保護和
低碳技術發展提供了一部分亟需的資金，也仍有潛力在爭議和大眾的監管中進一步完善其方法論，并涵蓋更多創新項目，比如多位受訪者提到的海藻養殖、再生
農業等，都值得更多的研究探索和資金投入。
